Happy start of the week! Good morning to all of you! Today we have a great guest, joining us is Shayla Day who most recently appeared on Season 10, Episode 7 of "Chicago Fire". She also was a star on "Empire" & an extra on "The Dark Knight". Working with great sponsors and community partners, The Neighbor Project & Aurora FEC (financial empowerment center) will provide information and more resources for free at this event. The date is December 11th and the event will be from 1 to 4 pm at 1 E. Benton street (gallery 1904, lower level). Santa will also be on hand for cool holiday photos; health resources will be provided by our friends of VNA Healthcare as well. Please help spread the word and come out to this great event. - The Kane County Sheriff's Office & DuPage County Sheriff's Office are hosting a job readiness and hiring event, Thursday November 18th from 4 to 7 pm. This will take place at 205 N. Lake Street, suite 103 in Aurora. Those who participate can receive help in many areas such as resume writing and interviewing, and be introduced to the job and community resources. - The 1st annual Tom-A-Hawk Turkey Trot is happening Saturday the 20th from 9 am to noon. Brought to us by our friends of the AEEF (Aurora East Educational Foundation) and A+ Foundation, join the running community of the Aurora area on a flat and fast course along the Fox River. ALL proceeds benefit the Aurora East Educational Foundation and A + Foundation for West Aurora Schools in their support of students on both the East and West sides of Aurora. This debut event is sure to be an exciting one, finishing with the final straightaway across the brand new pedestrian bridge in downtown Aurora. The run, or walk, begins at 9 am with an awards ceremony taking place at 11 am at Two Brothers Roundhouse. - Saturday the 20th there will be a Know Your Rights forum from 11 am to 1 pm at Sacred Heart Church, located at 755 Fulton Street. Representatives from Family Focus, the LCLAA & World Relief will be there to answer questions regarding immigration.
